The raw material
The price of the raw material is determined by criteria such as the size of the quarry, its scope, and the rarity of the material from which it is quarried. For example, raw material for blue marble is very rare in nature, and therefore its price is more expensive than raw materials in more natural colors such as black or brown.
Quality of the raw material – The quality of each raw material is determined by its cleanliness and uniformity. Phenomena that can affect the price of the raw material are stains, cracks, veins and holes that detract from the beauty and quality of the raw material. Each raw material is classified according to its quality – the highest quality will be classified as “Type A”, after which raw materials will be classified as “Type B”, “Type C” and so on.
The price of quarrying – the machinery and equipment in the quarry affect the price of the raw material. For example, granite is often more difficult to carve than marble. In addition, the dimensions of the blocks that are quarried vary, which of course affects the price of the raw material. (Smaller sizes, blocks are cheaper).

Is the cut straight or round? What are the finishing levels, is it beveled or rounded?
Artistic elements – Are there artistic elements on the tombstone? Does the work require a simple worker for relatively simple work or a skilled hand for a much more complex job?
Transportation and installation
The price must be taken into account in relation to the distance of the raw material and where it is quarried, as the cost of shipping varies for each raw material. When the quarry originates in Israel, the shipping cost is reduced, compared to a quarry in Europe, the Far East or South America. However, there are cases in which the raw material can only be obtained from these places, and then the shipping price varies accordingly.

Engraved letters (60-70 letters) are usually included in the price of the tombstone . The price increases depending on the size of the letter and the price of the material. For example, cast lead letters are an additional 10 to 12 NIS per letter.
Copper letters or bronze letters connected by screws can cost about 25 to 30 NIS per small letter. A large bronze letter costs 150 NIS per letter. Making letters, a standard version in 21K gold, can cost about 2000 NIS or more.
Today there are forms of processing for writing on gravestone – From hand engraving, pantograph, sandblasting, to a computerized CNC machine. The use of each method affects the quality and level of finish of the engraved letter.
When determining a tombstone, request in advance the graphics for proofreading, as well as the layout of the inscription that will appear on the tombstone.
Important to know – it is important to review the graphics several times, and even confirm with additional parties. This method can avoid spelling errors or mistakes in numbers, dates, etc. Only after the final review do they sign the approval of the text for the tombstone.
